 I. STATEMENT OF RESEARCH AND SCIENTIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

It is essential that the individual has extensive experience in all of the listed fields of study as well as a high level of experience in molecular biology of cell death and data analysis techniques to analyze large data sets

• The individual will work independently to design and execute discovery-based research projects in neurodegeneration, with an emphasis on the relationship between Alzheimer’s disease and traumatic brain injury, most keenly with respect to energy and metabolism of the cell.

• The individual will work with advanced molecular biology techniques and will be expected to analyze and interpret large data sets.

• The individual will work with genetic preclinical models of disease and injury, most keenly with rodent-based models for biomedical applications.

• He/she will present data at departmental seminars and national or international scientific meetings, and will be expected to submit grant proposals.

• Individual will be expected to prepare scientific manuscripts, including writing, generating figures, analyzing data, background, significance and experimental design for grant proposals.

• Managerial experience will be looked upon favorably, and he/she will be expected to supervise students and technician, and collaborate proactively with others in the lab on related projects.

 II. TECHNICAL SKILLS

High level of experience in molecular biology and biochemistry required

Extensive knowledge and experience with a multitude of advanced biochemistry techniques such as qPCR, CRISPR, virus design, immunohistochemistry staining, animal behavior, enzymatic activity assays.

III. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Supervise laboratory technicians/assistants and student trainees in experimental design and data analysis of a variety of projects.

IV. EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Minimum qualifications include a Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field.

Prior post-doctoral research experience is strongly preferred.

The candidate should maintain all required certifications and trainings to participate in animal-based biomedical research

The successful candidate must have strong analytical, oral and written communication skills.
